First Phone Card from Seminar Proceeds
Given to Deploying Member
As
we did after previous seminars, the Chapter and our VSAC partners decided
to use the proceeds to buy phone cards for deployed servicemen and women.
The first 550-minute card was presented on October 28, 2005, to California Air National
Guard SSgt Joseph J. Reuter. Reuter (left), an ISP and our chapter
Secretary, deployed on November 1, 2005, to the CENTCOM AOR. Former chapter chair Bill Uttenweiler (right) caught up with
him on Vandenberg AFB CA while Joe

Security Poster TV Debut, September 21,
2005

The pilot episode of NBC-TV's new series E-Ring
included a glimpse of "Any Source," one of our security posters.
While talking on a telephone from the Pentagon, Aunjanue Ellis (playing
Marine Corps MSGT Joceyln Pierce) appeared in front of the poster.
Officials at Warner Brothers Television Production Company, Burbank, CA,
had discovered our site earlier this year and requested permission to use several posters as
"set dressing" on the show. |

Past
Chapter Chair Lugdy Cueva ISP (left) receives the Chapter of Excellence
Award for CY 2004 from outgoing NCMS Director and NCMS Chapter Chair
Liaison Charles Talley. We were one of only four chapters to be so
honored. The COE award was instituted for membership year 1999 -
2000. The Channel Islands Chapter won the award that year and every
year since! It demonstrates a high level of activity, from hosting
seminars to having meetings to communicating fre-quently with members to
completing paperwork requested by the national office. |

Classified Threat Mini-Seminars, April 2005
|
In conjunction with our partners, the
Vandenberg Security Awareness Council (VSAC), we sponsored two mini-seminars
on April 6, 2005. Four briefers from the Defense Security Services (DSS),
the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), US Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM)
and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) presented classified
briefings. They explained the intelligence threat to the information
we hold and talked about how to protect it. Identical morning and
afternoon sessions allowed over 100 people to attend. Many who came
were "program" folks from the military and the contractors. No, the
speakers were not "undercover" and unwilling to have their pictures taken!
Our usual photographer was out of town on business and the "back-ups" left
their cameras at home or in their cars! |

Chapter Meeting, February 2005
|
Chapter
Chair Sandra J. McKenzie, ISP (left) has the pleasure of swearing in a new

step aside when she heard there was "new blood" interested in serving. |

JPAS Hands On Half-Day Training

everyone was serious during all of our two half-day mini-seminars. Instructor (and NCMS Board of Directors Member) Tony Ingenito is shown with chapter
members
(standing) Terri Carson, (l to r) Sandra McKenzie, ISP (Chapter Vice
Chair), Cheryl
Pelton, ISP (Chapter Secretary) & Dee Szabo. All attendees with JPAS accounts had
